How to install Java on Mac OS X (Apple)
This tutorial will walk you through how to install the Java SE Development Kit (Java SDK) on Mac OS X. Java is a software platform, MentalRep needs it to operate on your computer.
NOTE: The Java SDK version varies as new updates are released. In this tutorial the version downloaded was "jdk-8u121-macosx-x64.dmg". Make sure the version you download follows the pattern "jdk-[VERSION]-macosx-x64.dmg".
Go to this link to download the Java SE Development Kit. The link will take you to a site that looks like the image displayed below.
Select that you agree to the Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for Java SE.
Click on the Mac OS X version to download. Specifically click on the blue link labeled in the Download column.
Once the software is finished downloading the file, navigate to where the file is downloaded on your computer. Click on the downloaded .dmg file to open it.
When you open the file you should be greeted with a page that looks like the one below. Click on the box icon to begin the installation.
You will be taken to an introduction page. Click the Continue button.
Next you will be taken to a window that tells you about the type of installation. Click the Install button.
The installation will begin. It should take about 2 minutes to complete. When it is finished click the Continue button.
You will be taken to a completion screen, where you should click the Close button to finish the installation.
